• Bird watching and nature walks — Day walks or longer trails (fees ~USD 40 for birding/nature walks).
• Guided long walks — Multi-sector hikes like Rushaga to Nyabaremura or Buhoma to Nkuringo (~USD 60).
• Batwa Forest Experience — Cultural interactions with the indigenous Batwa people, including forest traditions (~USD 40, exclusive of entrance).
• Bamboo walks (in Ruhija sector) and other trails like Rushura Hill loop (~USD 40). We customize packages combining gorilla trekking with birding, cultural visits, or extended walks for a fuller rainforest adventure.

Gorilla trekking in Uganda is available year-round, but:

• Peak/dry seasons (June–August & December–February): Drier trails, easier trekking, clearer views, high demand—most popular for optimal conditions.
• Shoulder/wet seasons (March–May & September–November): Fewer crowds, lush greenery, potentially easier gorilla spotting on lower slopes (gorillas less mobile), but muddier trails.

Moderate to strenuous—treks last 2–7+ hours depending on the gorilla family’s location (some closer, others steeper/higher). Terrain includes steep hills, dense forest, mud, nettles, and bamboo. Porters are available (~USD 15–20/day) to carry gear. Minimum age: 15 years for standard trekking; fitness for several hours of hiking required.
